Hill Parking

 

To prevent a parked vehicle from accidentally rolling down a hill, always set your park brake and always place the transmission in low gear for manual transmission vehicles or place the transmission in park for automatic transmission vehicles. In addition, follow the following procedure to safely park in a downhill or uphill slope:      

uphill parking

If you park facing uphill on a street with a curb, turn the front wheels toward the away from the curb and allow your vehicle to roll back until the one of the front tires is touching the curb.

If you park facing uphill on a street without a curb, turn your front wheels towards the side of the road. This will ensure that the vehicle will move away from the traffic in case the vehicle accidentally rolls downhill.

If you park facing downhill on a street with a curb, turn your front wheels toward the curb and slowly let the vehicle roll forward until one of the front tires is touching the curb.

 

If you park facing downhill on a street without a curb, turn your front wheels toward the side of the road. This will ensure that the vehicle will move away from the traffic in case the vehicle accidentally rolls downhill.
